The "KANIV-108" project, also known as the Kerala Ambulance Network for Injured Victims, aims to reduce the loss of precious lives in road accidents through effective trauma care. To achieve this, a total of 315 Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances have been deployed strategically across Kerala, targeting areas with high accident rates.
The ambulances are categorized into two groups: those providing 12-hour service and those providing 24-hour service. During the peak hours of 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM when the majority of accidents occur, all 315 ambulances are active and ready for service. However, during the night hours from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, only 150 ambulances are available for immediate response. This distribution ensures that emergency medical assistance can reach accident-prone locations in the shortest possible time, contributing to saving lives.
